I have long held that you can't believe anything you read in the easten based media relating to public affairs and policy....it seems to hold true.
I'll answer for the average Canadian:

Sierra, the bureaucracy had every chance in the world to buy me off by granting me permanent employment amongst their ilk, and chose not to do so. They did so at their own peril. If one day I am a part of GOOD gov't in Canada, well, I'll get my satisfaction. There'll be changes for sure. What is needed to truly serve the people is to transform the civil service into a meritocracy. I love that word, MERITOCRACY. Perhaps that's the one we need to use more often when talking about change.
Debris Trail, that rings so true. Bloody damn nearly everyone I know is like that. Always believing the chosen talking heads, the lucky few paid simply to say whatever the leftist establishment tells them through their bosses in the media, whose strings, in turn, are most likely pulled by the PMO, PCO or whatever. (It's not like they'll admit it, but we can see the tracks in the dirt and the fingerprints on the gun barrel). Hell, sometimes there'll be a voice on a tape...
Steve: I'd be happy if even outr public education system was a "mertiocracy" as it was intended to be....merit goes south when politics determine worth...such is the sad fate of our over politicized existance in the single party state...the media promoted kleptocracy.
