The Reformer's Firebrand

*-{The New Canadian Colonist's Advocate }-* A commentary of fiery reformist sentiment from the spirit of it's 210 year old Canadian ghost publisher patron. This will be a home to the new wave of anti-partisan advocacy for defeating Canada's second "family compact" and reinstallation of responsible governance in this 21st century new Canadian democratic dominion.

Winner of TFB's "cutting truth" Quote of the Week

Seems appropriate to start running a razor of truth quote of the week feature on the Firebrand...this will naturally culminate in a monthly quote of the month and ultimately quote of the year feature...all picked by reader's choice.

This week's winner is Mark Steyn with this zinger from the-truth-hurts-but-I-feel-your-pain dept. :

but “passion” as in The Passionate Eye is code for the leftist approach to geopolitics. What matters is not the facts on the ground nor the consequences of particular actions but the advertising of the concerned western progressive’s “passion.” The modern liberal cares “passionately” about First Peoples and health care and Rwandans, and the fact that his “passion” makes either no difference or quite a lot of things worse is secondary to that

I hope you enjoy using this baby on all your liberal friends this week ;-)...stay tuned for a new one next week and come by at the end of the month an vote on your favorite for the "quote of the month"...12 of these will end up in the final ballot for the year's winner.

Feel free to submit your favorite zinger for consideration on a weekly basis...the management of TFB reserves the right to all final decisions on which quote merits publishing...based on our own warped sense of humor ;-)

BTW: Honerable mention goes to Bill at Eject!Eject!Eject! for referring to Michael Moore as : "the Malodorous Michigan Manatee of Mendacity"

Great zinger but it really didn't qualify as a "quote" per se.....all the same great to use on all your Liberal friends ;-)

Great idea Bill: Steyn and Hanson are my favorites, and I'll bet that they'll get a lot of mention.

By the way, do the quotes have to be contemporary in the sense of being just published, or can we reach back in time a little... say a year or so?

B) They should be witty

c) come from keen observation of the subject.

d) They should isolate and or ridicule fallacious ideas/ideals, human foibles or bad politics

Bill, on a completely different topic, which I'm bringing over from cjunk, just in case you missed my response to your very "intellectual" consideration of the characteristics of Guano. I responded thus:

Hmmm... Well, how about this. Guano makes great fertilizer, right! So, consider that Moonbat Guano has literally provided growth to the Republican Party, in that there are now tens of thousands of 911 Republicans, Sheehan Republicans, Moore Republicans, and now Katrina Republican... you see, Guano is assisting in the growth of the GOP. But then, Guano also supports the growth of weeds... hmmm.

Actually ,if one wishes to read a real pea warmer of a Micheal Moore putdown,go to Huffinton's Toast and a tribute to MM's recent trials at a fat farm done to the tune of "Hello Mudda, Hello Fadda"....I know it 's not the way the song title is spelled ,but that's the way it always sounded to me.:)....Big Al
